Vanuatu is a beautiful island nation in the South Pacific, formerly known as the "New Hebrides Islands", a colonial territory that used to be administered by both the British Empire and France.
Vanuatu's closest neighbors include New Caledonia (Nouvelle Caledonie, a part of France), Fiji (an island nation populated largely by Indian migrants from earlier centuries of the British Raj) and the Solomon Islands. Papua-New Guinea, Tonga, Samoa and Guam (US Territory) are also close by.
Exotic Playgrounds like Tahiti (French Polynesia), Hawaii and Bali are not too far away from Vanuatu -- as neither also are the very well-Known, more 'mainstream' destinations like Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, and even The Philippines and Singapore.
Multiple daily and weekly flights connect Port Vila, the capital and largest city of Vanuatu, to Sidney (New South Wales) and Brisbane (Queensland) in Australia, and Auckland, New Zealand.
